I know not everyone will care, but just to put it out there, Warcraft was AMAZING! I think they did the franchise justice in their representation of it. If you are a fan or just looking for a great fantasy movie, go see it!

Are you engaged in the WoW universe in any way (MMO, CCG, Comics, other)? How would the movie be for someone who has never engaged with the world at all?

The story seems like it is able to be comprehended easily enough. And like I said, it stands on its own as a great fantasy movie. Highly entertaining. I did play the game and I have read some of the comics/graphic novels, but my statement stands regardless of these things.

I’m not a fan of the WoW franchise, and I’d give the movie a 6.5 personally. It felt like Avatar (with the blue people) meets Game of Thrones meets something a bit cheesier than either. It was incredibly derivative, but it was fun anyway and little was “bad.” I could take it or leave it. It’d be hard to leave the theater disgusted, I’d think.

I think the film looked great and there was plenty to like. Left the theater disapointed for reasons that are hard to explain without spoiling. I have played the games but I’m not a huge fan. I don’t think you need to be familiar with the setting beforehand, might even be detrimental. Just my opinion…
