Gauntlet NJ’s first session of Friday Night Drive-In was a huge success! We played Ross Cowman’s Fall of Magic, which is a pretty magnificent game. It’s a straight-forward scene-framing affair, but the physical components, including the beautiful scroll and character tokens, create a unique, compelling experience. I also enjoyed the story prompts in each scene, which do a great job of driving the fiction into interesting, unexpected territory. At times our story was dreamy and introspective, and other times it was very tense and drama-filled. Emotion was a feature throughout, though, and there were times when I wanted to reach out and hug our characters.

All in all, extremely fun. Thanks to Patrick O’Leary (who I can’t tag for some reason – thanks, G+!) and valeria ballerini for a great game!

  1. Also, I really want to play a version of this where the map depicts a colorful, Lisa Frank-esque world of ice cream cones and rainbow koala bears. It would be called Fall Into Magic.
