Jason, I heard you mention a game I was curious about called Fiasco. I finally took the time to research it and WOW! It’s an awesome game. I didn’t have any recourse except to recruit some unwary victims and go through the rules, and play. It was outrageous and fun. I can’t wait to play again, neither can they. Just thought I’d share that with you. It’s all your fault! LOL

Rocky Perez Awesome! There are also numerous playsets for the game available (some of them written by our community members). You can find some of the best here: http://www.bullypulpitgames.com/downloads/

Rightly or wrongly, I now use Fiasco to explain to non gamers what roleplaying can be. I’ve basically grown very tired of explaining to those not into the hobby that I don’t dress up as a wizard and go around hitting people with a plastic sword.

Isa Wills I go one step simpler and use The Final Girl in those situations. With Fiasco, you still sometimes have to explain what a Coen brothers movie is. The Final Girl is much easier, because everyone understands the tropes of slasher flicks.

Still, what’s wrong with hitting people with a plastic stick? Heheh…

Rocky Perez I think that’s a legit point, haha. I used to do a bit of that back in the day (and even Vampire LARP, lol).

Jason Cordova Rocky Perez Don’t get me wrong, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with LARPing 😉 I just wanted to try and shake the perception of gaming being just about fantasy and “dressing up”.

Own your geek shame, Isa Wills! You and Daniel Lewis can form a support group.

I’m all for it, however, after seeing a drunk 50 yo man try to cosplay Rubeus Hagrid of Harry Potter, I would rather not see adults attempt Hogwarts!

Obviously the only solution here is to go full Nordic LARP. Everyone grab some facepaint

Ferrell Riley Is that a thing in Nordic LARP? I thought they were about either divorce, cancer, or the intractable situation in the Middle East.

I need some way to keep track of how many tears this session made me shed.

I think I’m a little too…tex mex for nordic larp. I don’t think haggis tacos works, but fish tacos are good! Come to think about it, I think tortillas might actually travel well…
