Episode 31 of The Gauntlet Podcast is out today!

Episode 31 of The Gauntlet Podcast is out today! In this one, we are joined by guest co-host Epidiah Ravachol.  You will know Eppy as the designer of games like Dread and Swords Without Master, and the publisher of the swords & sorcery magazine Worlds Without Master. This was one of my favorite conversations we’ve had on the show. I think you’re going to enjoy it.

And thanks to Richard Rogers for the terrific edit this week!

Games Discussed:

Meguey Baker’s Wishing Games

Stephen Dewey’s Ten Candles

The Dread Geas of Duke Vulku

Lamentations of the Flame Princess

Becky Annison and Joshua Fox’s Lovecraftesque

Sanguine’s Usagi Yojimbo

Vincent Baker’s Amazons

Ewen Cluney’s Fantasy Friends (a hack of Golden Sky Stories)

  1. What is “IP” in the context you were speaking of Jason?  It’s a sign I’ve been in tech for too long when all I can think of is Internet Protocol and switches

  3. Ferrell Riley Being in Sillycon Valley in tech I generally think Intellectual Property since you know that’s more valuable here than actual technology stuff 🙂

  5. Thanks for putting Ten Candles on my radar. Hadn’t heard of it before. Would love to see a full episode on rituals in games! They have a particular quality that, when used well, really draws you in.

  7. I wish I could pick a favorite, but between Eppy’s Wolves Without Hair hack and having Golden Sky Stories make an appearance and seeing those eidolons…yeah, hard to pick a best part. It was all fantastic.

  9. Listening to this now. I have to keep backing up because I’m getting distracted by ideas I have for The Perfected City. For one thing, I’m considering writing the world flavor text as though it’s a pamphlet for new arrivals to the city. That’ll magnify the tone a thousand fold.
