I’m new to Houston and am interested in being a part of a role playing game, either to start one or to join one.

I’m new to Houston and am interested in being a part of a role playing game, either to start one or to join one. I’ve many years of experience, have played every version of D&D, Werewolf, Mage the Ascension, Kult, Aces and Eights, Riddle of Steel, Blade of the Iron Throne, Rifts, Palladium, two different versions of Star Wars and many others. I’ve been gaming for almost 30 years and GM-ing for 20.

I enjoy playing, but my passion is to run games as the GM. Aces and Eights and Kult for modern settings or Blade of the Iron Throne/Riddle of Steel for medieval/fantasy settings; I like these systems primarily because of the levels of detail they provide without slowing game play and can utilize them in a variety of worlds. For example, I’ve played old world (Warhammer Fantasy), Westeros from Game of Thrones, ,the World of the Witcher as well as eastern settings such as feudal Japan.   For modern games the last campaign I ran was a combination of Grimm and True Detective, set in the world of Kult (for those not familiar with the world it is like the Matrix but substitute demons for computers).

I have many ideas for stories/campaigns for Game of Thrones, the old world, and the Witcher, but am open to different suggestions of players if different worlds are preferred.  That is the great part about these systems, is they will work with any world the players want to play in.

I am a nurse and am required to work every other weekend. Scheduling wise, I would look to run a game every other weekend (when I’m not at work) or one set specifically for a particular weeknight. I enjoy small groups of gamers, 3-5 people including the GM because it allows for the personal one-to-one character development as well as story development. I prefer story-driven games rather than combat-heavy games; I believe in the “role” playing rather than the “roll” playing.

As I am new to town and still in the house-hunting process, I do not currently have a place to host a game, but should be able to host next summer sometime once my wife and I have our own home.

I hope to hear from interested gamers, anyone interested in playing a character in one of these stories or something similar.

  3. Wow, TRoS GMs are not easy to come by.  What area of town are you in (or looking at)?

I’d be interested in chatting about several of the systems you mentioned.

  5. Eric H I live in Richmond, Near 1464 and westpark tollway, but I am willing to travel to play.  By the way you are the first gamer I meet that has heard of TRoS that I have not introduced to the game.

  7. Any chance you are planning to come to the Wednesday night games at Jax Grill?  We could discuss in person.  Otherwise, I’ll spin us off a separate chat.
