I’d like to formally thank the “Old Yellers” episode for getting me to look at a design of mine in a new light; now, instead of being strongly GM’d, it starts GMless and uses the GM dynamic as an element of the game’s flow.

  1. The short pitch that only makes sense if you know all three of my references: Mythender-lite by way of Changeling the Lost and a touch of Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

The players are humans with a side of dark Faerie powers, and the game is about fighting back against the invading Faerie monster, developing the relationships between characters, and watching some or all of them die or succumb to their powers. There’s an off-chance they make it to the final fight.

As characters leave play, their players get to take charge of the game and drive the opposition.

  3. Andy Hauge That sounds pretty cool, particularly the Mythender-lite aspect (Mythender being a game that seems cool, but that I find a bit intimidating because of its crunch).

Let us know if you ever want us to play test it. We’ll be happy to share our thoughts 😉

  5. Sure deal! I want to run a handful of tests on its current form, and I need to gut-and-rewrite it to mix in the GMless elements (I can wing the playtests with the disparate stuff I have right now, but an external playtest needs a unified document), and then I could totally get it out to your group.

(Also, I realized that “Mythender-lite” basically means “like Anima Prime”, which isn’t wholly wrong. I love Mythender, but decided I wanted to seriously strip down the rules.)

The main idea is definitely “easy to get into and run from the get-go”.
