Dustin Fowler  and I came up with an idea for a fun little game during a long drive.  Basically one of us gave the other a lame super power and the other tried to come up with how he would build a great business out of it.  I am probably not the only person who has looked at some comic book character with a “lame” power and said “I could rule the world or at least make millions with that.”

Its not exactly RPG or story game related but its very nerdy and we had fun with it.  Here is a quick write up of the rules we agreed upon.  Maybe some Gauntleteers will have fun with it after a game ends early.

I’d appreciate any feedback and I never thought of an answer for my “long fingers business” that did not involve fighting crime or robbing people.  leave a comment if you can.

  1. I like this a lot. It seems like it would be a fun road trip game, like “My Father Owns a Grocery Store.”  It was a little unclear to me how each turn is supposed to proceed, and whether/how you determine a winner.

  3. basically one player proposes a power and gives the other players a one minuet opportunity to come up with an idea before he can also use it.  he might have had an idea when he proposed the power but if it is too obvious then someone else should get it.  at this point the next player also proposes an idea that he wont touch for the next minuet.  everyone can still offer ideas for any previous power as long as they have not already been solved.  if we had 5 players then within 5 minuets we should have 5 powers in need of a plan. and within 6 mins everyone could offer a plan for any of them.

I should specify that the play time should be “At least” everyone gets a turn.  but it really can go on till your bored with it.  in the context of a road trip it should eat up as much time as possible.  At the table I see people writing on note cards: “The Green-en-ner: turns yellow things Green”  and setting them out into a pool.  when someone comes up with a plan they can grab the card and write it down.  Most cards/plans wins.  I can also imagine with enough unclaimed powers that someone may come up with a partnership idea using two powers to do something no one else can do.  this should probably still be worth one point.

there probably doesn’t need to be a winner, especially in the road trip context, but maybe first to 3 plans or something like that.

I should also add that the real fun my brother and I had was talking it out, throwing ideas back and forth.  most of the examples where things one of us brought up while we played and hammered out the rules.  players should speak up and discuss the difficulties of using the power for honest profit.  other players should be polite and not try to jump ahead on someone else’s thought, but should also speak up if the idea is breaking one of the rules like: “you could make money that way but not a million dollar business”, or “I think that’s to close to a scam”
