Some snaps from Wednesday One-Shots.

Some snaps from Wednesday One-Shots. Rob Ferguson, in his penultimate appearance, ran Swords Without Master. I ran our ongoing game of Dungeon World.

Thanks to Daniel Lewis Ferrell Riley James Melott Angel Ludwig Gary Wilson Stephen Crawford Isaac Martinez and Christy Uidhur for coming out!

  1. Daniel Lewis I’m very confused. Is that something you chose yourself or did Rob come to the table with that? The whole Eidolon thing is a mystery to me. I really need to run this game at some point.

  3. The eidolon can be basically anything, so I pulled up a random spotify playlist and picked a song off of it.  In my case, I used it to define my relationship with an NPC.  I thought that going off a song might be more interesting than using a character from a movie or a book.  I don’t know.  I don’t suspect the eidolons really add much to the game beyond some extra story-gamey pretension.

  5. Ferrell Riley You’re likely right about the intent behind it (of course, I haven’t read the rules…), but it feels completely unnecessary in that case.  If my eidolon was Rambo, people should be able to tell without me specifically going, “Hey guys, I’m like Rambo!”

It seems like it would work better if it’s something that’s a little more subtle/abstract, which is why I tried picking a song, but honestly, I feel like my choice was still way too straightforward.  If I played again, I’d be more inclined to choose something with more room for interpretation like some abstract poetry or a passage from Finnegans Wake or something ridiculous like that.
