Last week, Derek Grimm Sean Smith and myself had a very successful game of Microscope over Hangouts (seriously – it is the best way to play that game). I posted about it earlier, but one of the things I failed to mention was that we made liberal use of the Story Game Names Project. We were doing a frozen North setting, so we used the Nordic entry for the names of both characters and places, and we used the Demons entry for baddies. It was perfect.

If you game with me, you know that few things bug me more than poorly-named characters. A shitty, anachronistic, or genre-inappropriate name really breaks the illusion for me. Oh, you think you’re being cute by naming your paladin Judge Dredd? Because I think you’re being an asshole.

The Story Game Names project is completely free at the link below. Every game table should have a copy (or three).
