I had a blast at OwlCon.  I saw the Kerry’s Dungeon World sessions were booked solid, so I’m curious how those went.  I played Ogre: The Distended Edition on Friday night, and ran 3 quick (2-hour) sessions of Cosmic Encounter. The more I play Cosmic, the more I like it. It helps that the players were fun and good sports.  Ogre was good for a wargame, which I’m not normally a fan of.  It was mostly fun playing with the miniatures, and my fellow players were nice guys. The Ogre box was HUGE. I almost could have curled up inside it myself.  I’ll post my photos in a couple of days, but right now I have to catch up with my girls who I’ve been away from all weekend.

  1. Stephen Crawford That Ogre box is insane. They had a bunch at 8th Dimension a few months back and were selling them for only $80. I thought about getting one, but I was actually deterred by how big the box is. I have no idea where I would put such a thing.

  3. Go to ikea and buy a couple table legs, the ogre box can be used as an end table or a board for many other games.

I also had a lot of fun at owlcon and am considering doing a few games at the next one.  probably descent or nuclear war.

also a game called Gutshot by Hawgleg publishing caught my eye.  basically a skirmish level war game with a GM and a old wet theme + zombies

  5. Jason Cordova I know you guys are just down the street at Jax!  I might be able to do it later in March.  Right now my students have recitals (or rehearsals for them) on Monday and Wednesday evenings until then.  I get jealous when I see your photos and session reports.  I’m working on getting there.

  7. Stephen Crawford Well, the good news is that event is here to stay, so you can come by whenever you start to free up on that night. Rob Ferguson is doing a good job building it up. We’re to the point where we run at least two games every week now. This week is the samurai haiku game (and I’m thinking of doing the Shab Al-Hiri Roach).
