I need your help!

I need your help!

I need your help!

I’m trying to claw back a bit of my personal bandwidth, and could really use some help with a few small Gauntlet-related tasks (detailed below). These would be completely voluntary, but I’ll give the three individuals who help me out the benefits of $7 Patreon support (RSVP priority on Hangouts games, PDF copies of Codex, and Slack group).

Here is what I need:

Podcast cross-posting

Whenever a new episode of one of our podcasts comes out, a post would be made at the following locations: Reddit, RPG.net, Story Game forums, and our Facebook group (I’ll still handle G+ and Twitter). The person who takes this on doesn’t have to hang around to answer comments or anything (unless they want to) but they should let the podcast hosts know if some kind of discussion is taking place they might be interested in.

YouTube playlist management

Whoever helps out with this ensures that our YT playlists are in order, including playlists for our various podcasts, as well as any AP videos we make available. Our game runners will send them links for APs to be added to the appropriate playlists. Podcasts episodes are uploaded to YT automatically and simply need to be put in a playlist when they appear.

Comic Strip AP timecodes

This one is the most work, but also arguably the most fun. Basically, you listen to each upcoming episode of Comic Strip AP and note timecodes for them. I’ll still handle all the uploads and the website.

If you’re interested in helping out, just send me a message on Hangouts chat. Thanks!

Here’s a link to the latest episode of our Monster of the Week AP.

Here’s a link to the latest episode of our Monster of the Week AP. Tom McGrenery and I are having loads of fun putting this series together. I think the thing that most delights me about it is how unusual the setting and mood of the story is, at least in an RPG context. We’ve taken one part To Catch a Thief, one part Purple Noon, and one part Suspiria, shaken it all up and poured it into a frosted martini glass for you, the listener, to drink.

Or something.

Enjoy!

The Gates of Cold Iron Pass

This is an OSR-style adventure about the mountain pass home of an isolated clan of dwarves. I won’t include any spoilers here, but let’s just say something is growing in the darkness of Cold Iron Pass. This grim little romp was written by Kiel Chenier and includes illustrations by Nery Mejicano (like the one below).

Wind on the Path

Potential strangers

Meet on their private journey

Blades open for death

Wind on the Path is a short form game about samurai duels. It’s designed to be played at conventions or other spaces where you might run into people who are also playing the game (for example, I’m going to organize some games on our Slack!). Winning duels increases the skill of your samurai, but also their notoriety, meaning valuable information is revealed to future opponents. The game was written by Jonathan Lavallee and features art by Randy M. The included play sheets were designed by Oli Jeffery.

Four Dwarven Shrines

These dwarven shrines for Dungeon World were written with an eye toward turning the common dwarf tropes upside down (in one case, literally so!) or just playing around with the idea of what it means to be a fantasy dwarf. Each includes a custom move for the shrine, a magic item, and a cleric spell. The authors on this piece are Slade Stolar, Ray Otus, David LaFreniere, and Daniel Fowler. The art is by Allan Dotson.

Three dozen tempering trials

Our miscellany this month features trials and competitions meant to temper mind, body, and emotion. These are all highly evocative and imaginative, and many would make a great set piece in your game, or even a whole adventure!

This month’s beautiful cover features an illustration by Vandel J. Arden. Layout on the issue is by Oli Jeffery. David LaFreniere handled editing.

Changes to Gauntlet Hangouts

Changes to Gauntlet Hangouts

Changes to Gauntlet Hangouts

Hi Everyone! For the last few months, we have been putting a big emphasis on getting more games on our Gauntlet Hangouts calendar. We already did a lot before (around 30-40 a month, in fact), but the demand was high enough to where we needed to expand a bit. In order to accommodate this larger online gaming calendar, we have made a few changes.

First, we are no longer using Attending.io to handle our RSVPs. Instead, we have a custom system in place that will give us much more flexibility in terms of managing events.

What does that mean for you? Well, if you’re interested in joining one of our Gauntlet Hangouts games, it means you’re going to want to join the Gauntlet Hangouts G+ Community so you can be instantly notified when an event goes up. Make sure you have notifications turned on in Preferences.

https://plus.google.com/communities/116329047011220562548

All new events that hit the calendar will be announced on the Hangouts Community page. For the first week an event is up, only our $7+ Patrons can RSVP. But after that, anyone can RSVP.

If you want to see all the events listed together, here is a link to the new RSVP site:

https://gauntlet-hangouts.firebaseapp.com

Note: We still have events on our old calendar through May. The old calendar can be found at the link below. If you see something interesting, follow the link for that event to Attending.io! There may be spaces available!

There is no better time to get involved in Gauntlet Hangouts. We have a few more surprises in store yet to come, but for now, if you want to get involved in some of the best fucking gaming you’ll ever have a chance to be a part of, check out those links (particularly the first two).

We have six new episodes of Comic Strip AP in the feed this week!

I am delighted to announce that Skill Check is finally here! David LaFreniere and I have been working on this Pathfinder podcast for months, and I’m REALLY happy with how it turned out. For us, it was all about mastering the format. Our shows are known for a really tight presentation, and we didn’t want to launch Skill Check until it was absolutely perfect.

Enjoy!
