We have just released Episode 8 of The Gauntlet Podcast, “Railroads: Putting the Hobo in Murderhobo.” For this one, David LaFreniere joins us to talk about hot dogs. We also discuss Ribbon Drive, Shadow Hunters, and several other games, as well as engage in another rhetorical sortie with the FATE Defense Force.

If you have any substantive comments, post them here.

The Anthology is making a glorious return on Thursdays, starting in April. Those events will be going up soon, too.

I’m going to pin this podcast discussion/feedback post to the top of the page. If you have any thoughts about something we have said recently, or if you’d like to challenge one of our assertions, post it in the comments. We may discuss your comments in a future episode.

Of course, if we have gotten everything right, feel free to leave this space blank.

We played Ribbon Drive for Story Game Sunday. It was a lot of fun, even if we didn’t get to my playlist :-(. I’m sure we’ll discuss it on the Cast.

Thanks to everyone who came out: Daniel Lewis Steve Mains David LaFreniere and Jeff Burke.

The first edition of Mandatory Fun Club was called Discern Realities, and it was all about deduction and secret role games (“Who’s really in control here?”). We played Love Letter, Shadow Hunters, and The Resistance.

Some pics from Wednesday. Ferrell ran Dungeon World at his table, and we wrapped-up The Mountain Witch at ours.

The Mountain Witch is excellent. Probably one of my favorite new games (well, new to me, at least; it has been around for ten years). I suspect we’ll discuss it on the podcast.

Thanks to Ferrell Riley for running a game, and to everyone else who came out: Daniel Lewis Russell Benner Derek Grimm Kristen D Scott Owen James Melott Jorge Salazar Daniel Fowler and the two new guys (whose names escape me at the moment).

Hi Everyone. My neighborhood HOA is possibly getting serious about parking restrictions. They have posted signs at the entrances to the community that say anyone who is parked somewhere other than the visitor spots and who doesn’t have a parking permit will be towed. Now, the thing is, we don’t actually have any spots marked ‘visitor.’ We only have those spots marked ‘4 hour parking.’

I’m not sure exactly how we should proceed. I have very strong doubts they will actually start towing people, but you should probably make sure you park in one of the 4-hour spots, just in case. Those spots are located in front of my house, and on the sides of my street. There are also several spots on the other end of the community.

Another alternative would be to park at either the mall or the Home Depot. It’s a very short walk to my place from either location. The mall has a security guard who roves the parking lot, so your car should be reasonably safe.

Some pics from today’s game of Witch: The Road to Lindisfarne. To be honest, we had a little trouble with this one. We weren’t quite hitting the story beats we needed to hit, and the pacing just felt…off. Since the table was filled with some of our best players in the Gauntlet, I fault the game. Still, I’d like to try it again. The setting is very compelling, and I’d like to think we could nail it on a second attempt.

Also, despite my problems with the game, it was still ten times better than attending a fucking Super Bowl Party.

Thanks to Daniel Lewis for facilitating, and to Russell Benner Ferrell Riley David LaFreniere and Jeff Burke for coming out.
