Two weeks ago, we played out the lives of the last Mars colony in The Quiet Year.

Last week, we had a very atmospheric, if slightly broken, game of Society of Dreamers.

And finally, yesterday, we had a fantastic session of Night Witches, GMed by Jeffrey Steinwachs.

Thanks to Simon Hunt, Greg Lanum, David Wang, Jeffrey Steinwachs, and Anne Marie Blankenship for the fun times!

TFW you really want to play The Quiet Year but your team is in the finals so you postpone game night. #ALLin216

Last night, The Gauntlet: Rubber City (which is located in Akron, OH) played our second session of Dungeon World. The party passed through the Obsidian Gate, navigated The Maze, outsmarted some kobalds and fire beetles (not a particularly hard thing to do), and convinced the Obsidian Golem to restart a massive Newton’s Cradle.

Continuing the theme of me trying to channel Jason Cordova, I included both his fantastic labyrinth move and the Vainglorious Boots.

Thanks to Simon Hunt and Greg Lanum for showing up and roleplaying your hearts out. (Sorry about your character, Greg. I’m sure she’s happier beyond the black gate anyway.)

The first month of The Gauntlet: Rubber City went really well!

As always, if you find yourself in Akron, OH you’re welcome at our table.

Last night, The Gauntlet: Rubber City played our first session of Dungeon World. There were bird lizards, fanatical goblins, magic rocks, and an obsidian gate. We didn’t get very far into the dungeon, but there was a lot of really good roleplaying (especially on the players’ part), so who cares. Thanks to Anne Marie Blankenship, Simon Hunt, and Jeffrey Steinwachs for coming out. It was a blast!

Last night, The Gauntlet: Rubber City played Jason Lutes’s Funnel World.

The Dogmen came and kidnapped (or killed) most of the villagers from the town of Lastow. A few soon-to-be heroes tracked the pack of Dogmen through the Darkwood, to their lair within the Howling Maw. Once there, they discovered that an impossibility obese creature called “The Mamma” (yet another NPC inspired by Iotho Bruno) was turning humans into dogmen by forcing them to drink her milk. Through clever thinking, they defeated the Mamma and the dogmen were transformed back into townsfolk.

It was so much fun that I forgot to take any pictures once we got started. Surprisingly, only six villagers died. Thanks to Jeffrey Steinwachs, Amelia Logan, Greg Lanum, and Simon Hunt for the great time.

Tonight we played InSpectres.

Tonight we played InSpectres. Our franchise was based out of a bar in Gnome, Alaska (misspelling intentional), on the corner of Ghost Lane and Busters Ave. It was a shorter game, mostly because it was just three of us, but it was still a lot of fun. Thanks Anne Marie Blankenship and Simon Hunt for coming out.

Last night, we played 44: A Game of Automatic Fear.

Last night, we played 44: A Game of Automatic Fear. It started noir, but quickly escalated into an action movie somehow. While I thought the dice mechanics were a bit finicky, everyone had fun and it was a great time! Thanks to Jeffrey Steinwachs, Greg Lanum, and Simon Hunt for coming out.

The Gauntlet: Rubber City!

With Jason Cordova’s blessing, we’ve turned our home gaming group into the latest local chapter of The Gauntlet. Currently, we only have ten regular players, but our numbers will grow as we start reaching out to others in the local gaming community. As our numbers grow, so will the ranks of the greater Gauntlet. I’ll be encouraging everyone at our games to join this G+ page.

If anyone happens to be in Akron, Ohio (or anywhere in Northeast Ohio, really), you’re welcome to join us for some in-person gaming. Comment here or send me a message, and I’ll give you the address.

Coming up in May:

5/2 – 44: A Game of Automatic Fear

5/9 – InSpectres

5/16 – Funnel World

5/23 – Dungeon World

All games start at 7pm eastern.

I’m very excited for what’s to come.
