I want to give a dream to Duane Padilla John Campbell josh gary Michael G. Barford, the players in today’s Saturday Morning Cartoons session of Star Wars World. Their crew of PCs are all exciting scoundrels.

We had a cantina fight, a running blaster battle in a hangar bay, and a showdown with an angry Rodian in a space transport. Can’t wait to next session!

The discussion of Halloween LARP on the recent podcast reminded me of this: the Talisman pub crawl, a booze-fuelled semi-LARP based on the fantasy adventure board game of that name. I’ve played it on two occasions, once as the Scout and once as something else I don’t remember.

edit: Looking at the character options, I think I was the Knight. That would explain some of the things that happened.

I really like the orc one-eye/gimp encounter that Jason Cordova uses to introduce new players to the fiction-first brutality of Dungeon World combat (see Discern Realities 8 & 24). I want to do something similar when I run my first game in a few weeks time, but maybe not that exact scene. Does anyone have any examples of other comparably powerful crucibles that they’ve thrown players into at the very start of a new campaign?

I usually don’t game gush too much, but we had a great session this morning. I’m hoping that when I and others get excited about the games we play, it prompts others to get started running and playing more games.

So….. I tried to be a kind GM, but Dungeon World refused. After a few truly awful rolls, one of which was a max damage roll from a monster, our first adventurer from the Vaara Campaign went to the black gate. An offer was made to Princess Cormorant, by death itself, to betray her new alliance with her former enemy, the Fae Witch Feldred. The princess chose honor in death, rather than guilt in life, and went beyond the black gate to dine with human and fae alike, existing in harmony at last.

R.I.P Cormorant of Toufleaux. May you achieve your compendium class in the great beyond.
