If you were going to play a story that was basically Westworld, but the resort was a dungeon and the guests are people going for a “dungeon crawl” vacation, which system or game could you play that story in?
Here’s a sneak peek of the beautiful, haunting cover art for Codex – Decay.
Here’s a sneak peek of the beautiful, haunting cover art for Codex – Decay. It’s by Claudia Cangini and features an undead lord posing for a portrait. From Claudia:
“I took inspiration from renaissance portraits because I liked the idea of decay being flaunted like it was something to be proud of. I thought it made it even more chilling.”

A question for the OSR folks: if you were designing a contest for OSR scenarios, how would you convey the idea that submissions should be compatible with multiple OSR systems? Are there certain systems or resources you would point them to?
Note: we’re not necessarily doing this; I’m just gathering information here.
Hey everyone! I’m new to the Gauntlet. I’m interested in running some Itras By via hangouts on Friday evenings, EST. It would be a surreal mystery game, influenced by Over the Edge, Scarfolk and David Lynch.
DriveThru is having a big sale on setting books! Anybody have any recommendations? Now that I’ve started filling in my indie RPG bookshelf, I’ve started hunting for more settings & adventures. What settings have you played or read for this sale, and what books would you recommend?
I love Origins and I love the Games on Demand area.
I love Origins and I love the Games on Demand area. It’s a great large con with easy access to great food. They’re not so great about informing people about this. Like I’ve gone the last five years and they still don’t inform me when the hotel bookings open. Which they did. Last week. Origins has gotten more popular so rooms have gone fast. The closest connected hotels have sold out. I got a room at the Marriott Courtyard (abt. 5 min walk). So there are still some. I also know many folks have had great success with Air B&B with Origins. Anyway, here’s the hotel page for the con: http://originsgamefair.com/hotels/
We’d like to do some crowdsourcing for the Miscellany in Codex – Decay.
We’d like to do some crowdsourcing for the Miscellany in Codex – Decay. The Miscellany is called “Three dozen abandoned buildings.” Submissions need to be a single sentence, or 2-3 very short sentences. By submitting here, you’re agreeing to let us use it (you’ll get a credit on the issue). We’re looking for evocative stuff. The purpose of the Miscellany is to inspire the reader.
Importantly, your submission needs to identify the building by either name or description, and then include a short bit of history about it, or a rumor. The buildings can be from any setting (modern, fantasy, etc.)
Here are some examples:
“The old Cranston place, boarded-up ever since most of the family was discovered hanging by their necks from ropes tied to the living room rafters. Only little Jeremy Cranston was left alive, found playing with his toy trucks beneath the feet of his parents and siblings.”
“Tapper Tom’s, which was a popular watering hole among the local made men. Business started to drop off when Tom found Jesus, and the place was shuttered permanently after he went down South to join the tent revival movement.”
“The old mill fell into disuse when the crops dried up, though it enjoyed a brief burst of activity when the locals began grinding blood and bone beneath the stone in an attempt to appease an angry harvest god.”

MC Principles. How much attention do you pay to that list in the MC section? Do you reference it often? What’s the most useful lesson you’ve taken from the MC Principles in a PbtA game?
Hello fellow gauntleteers! I registered for Gauntlet Con last week and was in the process of RSVP some of the awesome games and GMs hosted by the Gauntlet, but left wondering what timezone the the shown starting times are related to. Since I am in GMT+2 I have to be careful which games I am signing up for. Can anyone help me out with this?
In recent months I’ve got a chance to listen to a new podcast that is just fantastic, I am eating it up. Daniel Kwan hosts “Curiosity In Focus”, which covers a wide range of topics. The last two though, are of particular interest in our hobby, I think! He also works at the Royal Ontario Museum where he works with kids, playing tons of roleplaying games. It looks like such a great program and Daniel is a genuinely kind and great person; a pleasure to listen to. I can’t recommend it enough!
He talks with Rachel Kahn about their experiences with Fan Expo Canada and surprise surprise, his favourite thing about the entire experience was the Tag Team there spearheaded by: Kate Bullock, Rob Deobald, and Rach Shelkey! It’s really cool hearing about his experience with the Con as well as his passion for gaming.
The next episode after this one he talks with Kat Kruger, an accalimed YA author and worked on the DnD board game: Betrayal at Baldur’s Gate. They also talk about Wonder Woman and Tron, and lots of other nerdly topics!
