The Mountain Witch is excellent. Probably one of my favorite new games (well, new to me, at least; it has been around for ten years). I suspect we’ll discuss it on the podcast.

Thanks to Ferrell Riley for running a game, and to everyone else who came out: Daniel Lewis Russell Benner Derek Grimm Kristen D Scott Owen James Melott Jorge Salazar Daniel Fowler and the two new guys (whose names escape me at the moment).

I wanted to say something that I feel does not get said enough; Jason, thank you for all you do.

I wanted to say something that I feel does not get said enough; Jason, thank you for all you do. I, like a good little gauntleteer, just finished listening to the podcast on building community; without you, this group would not be thriving like it is. In this benevolent dictatorship, we can trust our leader to know what is best for us, and now with the addition of the podcast, we can have his wisdom with us always. In many ways, this evolves our benevolent dictatorship into a theocracy…

In all seriousness, thank you Jason and the unnamed gauntlet organizers.

Hi Everyone. My neighborhood HOA is possibly getting serious about parking restrictions. They have posted signs at the entrances to the community that say anyone who is parked somewhere other than the visitor spots and who doesn’t have a parking permit will be towed. Now, the thing is, we don’t actually have any spots marked ‘visitor.’ We only have those spots marked ‘4 hour parking.’

I’m not sure exactly how we should proceed. I have very strong doubts they will actually start towing people, but you should probably make sure you park in one of the 4-hour spots, just in case. Those spots are located in front of my house, and on the sides of my street. There are also several spots on the other end of the community.

Another alternative would be to park at either the mall or the Home Depot. It’s a very short walk to my place from either location. The mall has a security guard who roves the parking lot, so your car should be reasonably safe.

Some pics from today’s game of Witch: The Road to Lindisfarne. To be honest, we had a little trouble with this one. We weren’t quite hitting the story beats we needed to hit, and the pacing just felt…off. Since the table was filled with some of our best players in the Gauntlet, I fault the game. Still, I’d like to try it again. The setting is very compelling, and I’d like to think we could nail it on a second attempt.

Also, despite my problems with the game, it was still ten times better than attending a fucking Super Bowl Party.

Thanks to Daniel Lewis for facilitating, and to Russell Benner Ferrell Riley David LaFreniere and Jeff Burke for coming out.

Does anyone know which roleplaying game designers are based in Houston? Kerry Harrison, any ideas?

We had a terrific time with Grim World for our penultimate session of the Friday Anthology.

We had a terrific time with Grim World for our penultimate session of the Friday Anthology. We ended with four armies marching north to destroy a powerful artifact (which was itself the result of one of the character’s death moves). We had a lot of fun with a new, classic NPC, the drakarn Ebonscales, whose only job is to guard a hole in the ground and bash whatever comes out of it with his hammer. He killed one PC in this way, and nearly killed two others. He is very good at his job.

Thanks to everyone who came out: Scott Owen Jeff Burke Daniel Fowler Ferrell Riley Russell Benner and Marcus Centurian.
