I’ve had the most rando, random-fuck idea and I can’t get it out of my head.

I’ve had the most rando, random-fuck idea and I can’t get it out of my head. It’s a game called “Queen of the Night.” It’s a hack of Kaleidoscope, but instead of recalling a surreal foreign film, we’re recalling a B-grade horror movie we just watched on an Elvira-style television program called Queen of the Night. There would be two layers of narrative; one focused on the events of the movie itself, and one focused on the production of the Queen of the Night television show. There would be some sort of mechanic involving bad double entendres.

Today marks four years my partner Rich and I have been together. Rich has only ever played a handful of roleplaying games (Vesna Thaw, Sea Dracula, The Final Girl and First Impressions), but he is still very important to the Gauntlet, because he gives up space in our home for the recording of podcasts, and he allows me to play far more games than is probably reasonable.

So here’s to Rich, the most important person in my life, and the finest First Lady the Gauntlet could ask for!

Anyone else play games by jim pinto? While he worked for a long time at Alderac and other publishers, recently his stuff has been really interesting and imo solid indy games. His Protocol GM-less games are really cool.

Here’s a new KS for a new suite of GM-less games he’s working on. Or rather I should say – worked on. Check out the Risks section of the KS.

“These games are done and ready to print. As soon as the project ends, I tell the printer to make your books and send them off. PDFs go out instantly.”

(jim’s a personal friend, but he’s also a good and under-sung designer. He doesn’t do self-promotion well; but he does create good games)
