Joe’s been gaming for 35 years, off and on: D&D in the 80s, WW MUSHes in the 90s, and indie games in the 10s. He’s been recording with the Jank Cast for six years, where he gushes about Monsterhearts, slash fiction and dreamy con-goers. You can also find him on Facebook and G+, where he extends his gushing to ice cream, canning and playing guitar very badly.

Mark Diaz Truman Running Games at Gauntlet Con

Mark Diaz Truman is an independent game developer, the co-founder of Magpie Games (magpiegames.com), and the business manager for John Wick Presents. Mark has authored three indie RPGs—_The Play’s the Thing_, Our Last Best Hope, and Urban Shadows_—and written often for Evil Hat Productions, including parts of _The Fate Toolkit, Timeworks, and Do: Fate of the Flying Temple. Mark has served as a developmental editor for 7th Sea (John Wick Presents), Firefly (Margaret Weis Productions), and World of Dew (Wunderwerks), and is currently at work on his fourth indie RPG, Cartel. I am delighted to announce some of our judges for the Keepers of the Gauntlet writing contest! The judging panel may grow by one or two more people by the end of the week, but for now, check out this amazing lineup:

Jason Pitre Running Games at Gauntlet Con

Jason Pitre is an award-winning game designer and professional ecologist from the wilds of Canada. He has published a series of roleplaying games including the Spark RPG, Posthuman Pathways, Circles of Power and Sig: Manual of the Primes. He also runs the RPG Design Panelcast, a podcast that shares panel and seminar recordings on roleplaying game design and publishing. In his spare time, he is a proud member of the Indie Game Developer Network (IGDN) leadership team, and is a two-time judge of the Indie Groundbreaker Awards.

Fraser Ronald Running Games at Gauntlet Con

Fraser Ronald is an author and game designer from Ottawa, Canada’s capital. He runs Sword’s Edge Publishing, which produces role-playing game products and can be found at http://swordsedgepublishing.ca/. His games include Sword’s Edge, Nefertiti Overdrive, Centurion, and Sword Noir. His published fiction includes “When She Was Five” in Fantastic Stories of the Imagination issue 234, “A Dead Pound of Flesh” in Black Gate issue 15, “For Simple Coin” in On Spec issue 79, and “Gifts of the Elder Gods” in the Parasitorium: Terrors Within, a horror and dark fantasy anthology.

River Williamson Running Games at Gauntlet Con

River is an novice game designer who came back into the hobby through games run by The Gauntlet and Damocles Thread Development. They love playing games that ask questions. Games that explore social dynamics or question taboos.

They are running two games at Gauntlet Con: Rockerboys and Vending Machines, and the EP version of Survival of the Femmest.

Just a reminder to check out the Keepers of the Gauntlet writing contest! The contest team will be reviewing entries as they come in, so get yours in early!

The prizes on this one are pretty great: the winning scenario will get a $100 cash prize, publication in Codex (with commissioned art and layout), and will be featured on either Discern Realities or Fear of a Black Dragon. Up to two runners-up will each get a $50 cash prize.

We expect to get around 30-40 contest entries, so your chances of being a finalist are actually really good. So give it a shot! And if you have any questions, just let me know.

Paul Czege Running Games at Gauntlet Con

Paul Czege is the designer of My Life with Master, Bacchanal, The Clay That Woke, and other games. He has been awarded the prestigious Diana Jones Award for Gaming Excellence, the Indie RPG of the Year Award, and his game My Life with Master is profiled in Hobby Games: The 100 Best. His current project is Traverser, a roleplaying game about women ex-soldiers with quantum reality powers in a post-dystopian future.

During Gauntlet Con, Paul will be running Traverser.

Phil Vecchione Running Games at Gauntlet Con

Phil Vecchione is a Game Designer, Publisher, Project Manager, Writer, Podcaster, and Blogger — As a man of many hats, Phil has been working in the roleplaying game industry since 2009 working with Engine Publishing, Evil Beagle Games, Third Eye Games, and Pelgrane Press. His work has won or been nominated for a number of awards, including the ENnie, Golden Geek, and Origins Award.

He is the co-Host of both the Misdirected Mark and Panda’s Talking Games podcasts, and is one of the founding Gnomes at the Gnome Stew. When he is not writing or recording he is a game designer currently working on Hydro Hacker Operatives.

During Gauntlet Con, Phil will be running Hydro Hackers.
