The two episodes of Gauntlet Podcasts I’ve listened to this week were both great – actionable advice about playing and running games, and also the ever lovely “smart people talking about things they’re passionate about” nerd joy.
I’ll be honest, I don’t often listen to episodes of The Gauntlet podcast once they’re on the feed because I’m the editor and, well, I’ve generally heard every word (and more) quite a few times before it goes up. But this week, I made an exception, specifically to relisten to the excellent discussion about open-table campaign play resulting from Lowell Francis’s quarter-long game of Mutant Year Zero. His takeaways, and the contributions made by Jason Cordova and Kyle Thompson were exemplary: useful, humble, and thoughtful.
I do regularly listen to +1 Forward in the feed, because my ears haven’t already been taken hostage by it, and this week’s episode on Player Agendas and Principles proved quite rewarding. Rach Shelkey and Richard Rogers really put in the work, and their combined experience and smarts created a thing that should spark thoughts for me and others for some time to come.
Dreams to all.
