Here are the gods and such who have been revealed in our DW game (so far), Kerry Harrison Alexander Hay Daniel Fowler Daniel Lewis and Trey Palmer . I have left an open space for St. Stephen, steven stewart . Give me a little paragraph about him and I’ll add it. As ever, I welcome all input.

  1. Here you go –

The cult of St. Stephen of the Apocalypse is one of the three death cults from the lands around Fang Wu. His symbol is a multicolored metallic rose. Their vestments are handwoven patchwork stole of many colors, along with a scarlet cloak. Not much is known of the historical St. Stephen. The cult maintains that he wrote the ballad as an instruction on the secrets of the cosmos and the answers to the afterlife, as well as guidance on how to live in this world – “one man gathers what another one spills”. His followers seek to find the hidden secrets of the world – to find the signs of the apocalypse. They maintain that followers of St. Stephen will return to the garden after death. And that Stephen himself did not die but simply walked somehow into the garden and that at times he still walks the earth at times, “in and out of the garden he goes” Their shrines tend to be small open shrines built from found material or recovered from ruins with small gardens. They generally tend to use a type of patchouli incense for their burners that radiates multi-color smoke. They also venerate another holy song – the Epic of Morning Dew – only a partial fragment remains that is nearly the same length as The ballad of St. Stephen – but they frequently add long instrumental sections of the song to make it longer. They believe that this song plus the ballad point to St. Stephen being the man who foresaw the apocalypse and the beautiful garden of the afterlife. He calls those to follow him and discover his secrets. They are only human, and they take magic Missile as their wizard spell from the song -Speeding arrow, sharp and narrow,

What a lot of fleeting matters you have spurned.

Interesting DW question – the original St. Stephen write up for dnd had them have the ability to “turn” magic users and elves spell? For dungeon world could that be a rote spell of dispel magic but limited to wizard spells?

Other interesting thought – since Jon is the “the cleric” would that mean that he is somewhat of a saintish type person since there aren’t any other Clerics?

  3. steven stewart I love it!

As for turning Wizard spells, I think a custom move is in order. Actually, a whole compendium class might be nice for this one. I’ll give you some initial thoughts on that one later this weekend.

As for Jon being a saint, I say go for it.

  5. awesome -yeah a cc would be nice. I love the patrons and gods. Planning on being there Tuesday. Since his petition is offerings, I am thinking that followers of st. Stephen once they learn one of the ancient secrets from a book destroy it as an offering to their god.

  7. A custom move would be nice for that. I think it would interesting for the saint thing to see if it comes out in play. I have started a discussion on the main community board to see how others handle being “the cleric” it has interesting ramifications because of the rules vs. your old school DnD when Acolytes were on the random monster tables.
