Thanks very much,

Aces & Eights, GURPS Old West – if you are down with ‘trad’ games.
I guess you could argue that ‘Space:1889’ is set in a wild west kind of world, so long as you don’t stipulate the world has to be Earth . . .

When you say “wild west kind of world,” do you mean an historical wild west setting, or a fictional/fantasy wild west?

Wow. You guys are great these recommendations will keep me going for a while. My interest is in making a game that involves the playing of a game of poker as the setting and as the central mechanic for generating a story… I have lots of ideas. Most wild hares are red herrings… but it keeps me engaged. Every now and again I end up with an actual herring in a fur coat. Sorry, my metaphors have flown the coop. Maybe be I need to setthis one on dr moroues island, what with all the chicke-rabbi-fish. I really don’t recommend herring in a fur coat btw. Sorry to any Russian folk… and thanks again to you all!

Deadlands mechanic is poker.
Deadlands mechanic is poker.
Dust Devils also uses poker as it’s core. Gunslingers and Gamblers uses poker dice to create poker hands in play, and Dogs in the Vineyard has a ‘poker’ based mechanic as well.

Cthulhu by gaslight is in the right era, though not explicitly in the right place.
