Thanks for adding me to the community! As several have, I see, the avenue I took to get here was the Discern Realities podcast. Thanks for that!

It looks like the text of the custom what-have-you in the “What here is useful or valuable to me?” section of the Discern Realities podcast has been added to the website starting with episode 17. Is that right? Is there a place to find those things from previous episodes, or should I work on jotting them down myself?

  1. Thanks, Jason Cordova! I see the names of the discussed moves/items/set pieces/etc, but not the full text. It’s possible I’m missing them somehow, but I’ve looked in the extended description in each episode and in the comments. For instance, episode 9 had “Cerberus Coin, Chain Lightning in a Bottle, Brazier of Summoning & Commanding Fire Elementals”. I remember the Chain Lightning in a Bottle item had somewhat lengthy rules for 10+, 7-9, 6-.

    I can totally track down that info. Thanks to your work documenting when each segment occurs in the podcast, it won’t be that difficult. I was just checking first. (I want to gather them all in Evernote so I can tag them, and then search while GMing. 🙂

  3. I have access to them (but not in one place). We can use this thread. Just tell me which ones you need and I’ll paste the text in. Here are the ones you mentioned:

    Cerberus Coin

    Marked with a stamp of the three-headed hound Cerberus, this coin is the currency used in the lands beyond the Black Gate. So long as the coin is pressed into your hand, you automatically take the 7-9 result on your Last Breath roll. The coin disappears when and if you return to the mortal coil.

    Chain Lightning in a Bottle

    This bottle is coursing with static energy, and little sparks of electricity can be seen dancing behind the glass. When you remove the stopper, roll +CON. *On a 10+, a bolt of lightning will leap from the bottle and strike a target of your choice for 1D10 damage. The bolt will then jump to 4 more targets of your choice. The second target suffers 1D8 damage. The third target suffers 1D6 damage. The fourth target suffers 1D4 damage. The fifth target suffers 1 point of damage. All damage ignores armor. Each target can only be struck once. *On a 7-9, same as above, except each additional target after the first is chosen by the GM (and can include yourself or your allies).

    Brazier of Summoning Fire Elementals (or Bowl of Commanding Water Elementals, etc.)

    When you burn sacred incense in this bronze brazier, roll +CHA. *On a 10+, a fire elemental is called forth and will do your bidding for a short period of time (GM’s discretion, usually a battle or a scene), after which it will return to the Plane of Fire. *On a 7-9, same as above except the fire elemental will only do your bidding momentarily before returning to the Plane of Fire. *On a 6-, the fire elemental rages with anger at being summoned and will attack you mercilessly.
