  1. Great episode and awesome module. I played in Lowell Francis game and enjoyed it a lot – although his decision to run it with Rolemaster still boggles my mind 😉 Concerning character motivation: I am totally cool with: you are a shady fortune hunter out there to loot the dunes. “Story” is something that emerges through play (random tables, directions the players pick, how they engage with the factions etc.) and doesn’t have to be more than what we remember afterwards.

  3. Another bear related charity is the Wild Animal Sanctuary, on the outskirts of Denver, Colorado. If you ever see stories of some dumbass’ attempts at raising a tiger or bear as a pet go horribly wrong and think “what happens to the animal after that?”, a good number of them end up at the Wild Animal Sanctuary. They provide homes to a number of lions and tigers and bears (oh, my!), as well as some other animals.

  5. Out of nowhere a shout out to Lindsey Davis and my favorite mystery novel series! For other Russian sources, I’d also recommend GURPS Russia which primarily covers Medieval, Early Modern, and Mythic Russia. The Dragon and the Bear also offers a take on Slavic myths in a fantasy setting.

For December I ran two parallel games of Rolemaster “Lite” using the Slumbering Ursine Dunes. One group ended up at the Barge; the other at the Tower. The events of the latter impacted the former as it turned out. Good fun and great stuff, though you skip over my favorite parts of the point-crawl: Jerk Centaurs, Beaver Project Managers, and the Rye Economy.

If anyone’s interested, I’ve put together a playlist of our Slumbering Ursine games (three sessions each), which you can find here: youtube.com – Slumbering Ursine Rolemaster – YouTube

  7. Cool. Rediscovering the rpg-books of my youth, I came across Monstrous Compendium Annual Volume Four, and some horrifying creatures from the Far Realm. This led to checking out The Gates of Firestorm Peak. Weird Alien Body Horror and deep dwarves. Seems like an excellent fit for FoaBD!

  9. Gotta agree with Jason and Tom that this is a very well written supplement. I have Fever Dreaming Marlinko and Misty Isles of Eld but have yet to dig into them.
