Episode 87 of The Gauntlet Podcast is here!

Episode 87 of The Gauntlet Podcast is here! In this one, Richard Rogers Steve Mains Lowell Francis Kate Bullock and myself get together to discuss some of the games we have been playing lately, including AW 2E, MH2, Chill, The Woodlands and Shooting the Moon.

This was a really fun episode to record! Great chemistry, great discussion. So far, I’m really happy with the new mixed format we’re doing this year. A big group episode at the start of the month, followed by the team splitting up to do interviews, roundtables, and other podcasts through the rest of the month feels pretty good.

And big thanks to Steve for his editing skills!

Enjoy!

  1. Lowell Francis the token mechanic in Chill sounded very similar to the Destiny/Force chips used in FFGs Star Wars Games. I ran an Edge of the Empire campaign a few years back and these tokens usually stayed forgotten on the table.

  3. Congrats to Daniel Fowler for a well deserved spotlight on this episode. Might I suggest posting a few pics here so people know what you where talking about…because radio…. 🙂 Daniel showed me the dice cup on hangouts and it’s amazing. It looks like the Stargate’s Shield.

  5. This is awesome!! I loved this episode. Tons of chemistry and laughter and fun. I really like this format, poor Lowell! It always sounds like he feels bad if he doesn’t enjoy/like a game and I’m sure he does but it ended up being a really helpful discussion and usually does whenever someone takes issue with a system or mechanic. That talking through of it was a great part of the podcast, though there wasn’t a weak point in there at all.

  7. I noticed Richard Rogerstook over as the animator even though Jason was there.

I know David LaFreniere took over on Discern Realities a long time ago but this was a first for the Gauntlet podcast I think.

Both Jason and Rich are great so I don’t mind.

  9. Maxime Lacoste That’s a connection I hadn’t made. I only played EotE once, so it didn’t stick with me. But I thikn you’re right on the money. I can’t remember were some of the players’ abilities fueled by those points? It’s one of the things that I’m uncertain about. I also want to see the full rules for them in the book. I have a feeling the QS glossed over some of the details.

  11. Daniel Fowler its beautiful. Does the image appear on both sides? Can you Create a second image on the back? Or perhaps text that describes a person’s information and position in a hierarchy with in the gauntlet that I could hand out as a rank/present for those that volunteer their time running games? Steve Mains tell me of this mechanized cup in picture format.

  13. Daniel Fowler I have a small amount of money and a need to show my appreciation for those that run games for the Houston Gauntlet. I was thinking of Gauntlet themed Girl/Boy Scout badges. I need for you to come up with products and pricing and provide me that info via my email which I know you have. GO!

  15. Daniel Fowler, Yeah I was not talking about you making cloth badges. I found a couple of places that can produce girl/boy scout type badges. That was a separate thought from what you can make. I think what you have made is really incredible. I have been looking for something unique to give to the GM Members of the Houston Gauntlet as a thank you.

  17. Daniel Fowler, if you are interested we could talk about it via email. This post is really about the podcast. Which was really great this week. I will have to check Monster Hearts 2 to see how I feel about these “Improvements”.
