I need help with something.
Over the years, we have put unique spins on The Final Girl and Cheat Your Own Adventure (and maybe other games, too). These weren’t quite hacks, but rather ways of using the rules to tell a different kind of story than the one originally intended. If any Houston Gauntleteers can remember some of those, or if any podcast listeners recall us talking about such things, could you please remind me in the comments?
Thanks!
The final toy was kinda a toy story themed final girl

Cheat your own adventure was once used to tell a horror story of someone going through increasingly horrific rooms like a “saw” movie. The players of that game choose to remain anonymous

I vaguely remember a lovecraftian “cheat your own adventure” mentioned on the podcast. Also, the recent Venture Bros henchmen for “Final Girl”

I ran a CYoA at my table that was a James Bond parody, we titled it “A Game of Spies”. The narrator started the game with the secret agent climbing out of the water, ditching a drysuit and revealing a tux underneath. The rest just sorta rolled from there.

I remember suggesting, a long time ago, a game where the characters are a DnD meetup and the killer is adult life

The two big ones that stick out from the podcast (I was very jealous of these) were a CYOA game about a man who is dying and has to wrap up his affairs. And one about the breakup of a marriage.
Also, I remember something about a Hell 4 Leather Candy Land game?

I vaguely recall hearing about a Cheat game where you played the serial killer in a slasher flick. I also recall hearing you hacked it to have hidden die rolls.

So I’m horribly late to this party (blame it on moving or something frisbee related), but we once reskinned Our Last Best Hope to be about fantasy adventures saving the world from the apocalypse a la a high level D&D campaign capstone adventure.
