I’ve been giving a lot of thought to the feedback I got on my earlier post about Codex. For anyone who wants to check that out, here is a link: https://plus.google.com/108530078404383929502/posts/SqjVG3mmceu
Title
‘Codex’ seemed pretty popular, and is still the title I like best, so that’s what we’re calling it. My plan is to eventually combine a bunch of monthly releases into a single book for purchase called Codex: A Book of Elements.
A Book of Elements
I’ve decided to focus each issue on a loose theme called an ‘element’ (as in an element from the Periodic Table, or the fantasy ‘elements’ of fire, earth, and water). An example:
Let’s say issue X is called ‘Blood.’ It contains a full scenario for Urban Shadows, focusing on the machinations of a wicked blood cult; ten magic items for Dungeon World that are blood-themed; and a miscellany called ’36 Elaborate Kills (for The Final Girl and Other Murder Games).’
There is also a subtle joke in the ‘book of elements’ idea, in the sense that Codex isn’t a complete roleplaying game on its own, but rather contains elements you can use in your games.
Codex Slack Team
Codex planning and execution will take place in Slack. There will be a general brainstorming channel anyone in the community can join. Each individual issue will be broken out into a channel for people who are involved in that issue. There will also be a channel for myself and whoever is doing editing and layout.
Again, anyone can join the Slack team and be involved in the brainstorming channel, so let me know if you’re interested. I’ll need your email address, which you can get to me in any of the normal ways (Hangouts chat, our Gauntlet Slack team, G+ post, etc.).
Looking Ahead
Here is the road map for Codex through December.
July – ‘Blood’ (test issue)
August – ‘Chrome’
September – ‘Ectoplasm’
October – ‘Iron’
November – ‘Love’
December – ‘Dark’
If you have some ideas for what might be found in those issues, please join the Slack team (see above).
Thanks!
Jason Cordova This sounds so awesome! I’d love to join in on the Slack channel too 😀

This looks great! I would patreonize it in a heartbeat.

So when do you release the Hairless Werewolf issue?

Chrome sounds like it should be about cyberpunk RP. But maybe that’s just me. 🙂

I’m interested in brainstorming (I know I can do that), possibly more.
Also, an “Ink” issue might be cool.

I’d love to be added to the brainstorming channel, if possible. Gaming in between tournaments may be difficult, but I can probably squeeze out an idea or two between points.
