We had a terrific game of Dog Eat Dog this morning. It was heartbreaking, frustrating, brutal…all the normal Dog Eat Dog stuff, and a great way to spend a Saturday morning.
One Native character had this situation where his little fishing boat was capsized by a large Occupation vessel, and he lost a whole day’s worth of catch. The Occupation person he was dealing with to get compensated for the loss was friendly enough, but required him to engage in a bureaucratic process that took weeks to resolve. In one of the final scenes of the game, the Native, having waited over a month to get a hearing in front of a magistrate regarding his lost fish, went before the court and stated his case. When the magistrate was told the value of the lost fish, he laughed at how small the amount was, and had an officer of the court repay the Native immediately.
The power of this scene can’t be overstated. The Occupation characters engaged in some pretty nasty, brutish shit, but nothing compared to forcing a wronged fisherman to jump through weeks of bureaucratic hoops to find redress, only to then laugh at the paltry sum at stake and repay it immediately.
Thanks to the players who joined me: Richard Rogers and Donogh McCarthy
Oh man, I was missing out. Can’t have the cake and eat it, too…

Had a great time playing this game – as brutal and thought-provoking as ever. Thanks for running it Jason Cordova
