Some pics from recent game days. Dead of Winter is really fun; we’ve already played it four or five times. It has this great blend of co-operative and competitive play that is really addictive. The Crossroads mechanic (which is apparently the foundation for several board games Plaid Hat has coming out) introduces a nice, RP-lite aspect to the game.
On Wednesday, we played a really terrific game of Fiasco. It was, in its way, very classically Fiasco: redneck hoodlums, grannies with pipe bombs, and a Weekend at Bernie’s– inspired attempt at getting away with a murder. Everyone was hitting their character beats, and it was hilarious.
Love a bit of Dead of Winter.
Love a bit of Dead of Winter.
I can’t decide which Dead of Winter character is my favorite, between Sparky, Forest Plum, and Gabriel Diaz.
Sparky is a dog with a red cape, which is all that needs to be said. Forest Plum, the drunk mall Santa, has the best special ability in the game (when he wanders off into the snowy darkness, the Colony morale goes up). Gabriel Diaz, the fireman, is just smokin’ hot (do you see what I did there?). Seriously, being rescued by Gabriel Diaz would make being trapped in a burning building during the zombie apocalypse totally worth it.
