Some pics from Odyssey: Journey & Change. You may want to skip this one, honestly. It’s kind of boring (our laughter and smiles in the pics were basically us not taking the game seriously anymore). More thoughts on Friday’s podcast.
Thanks to Daniel Lewis for reading the 144 page rulebook and Ferrell Riley David LaFreniere and Russell Benner for coming out.
I still feel if we had more interludes between the action sequences we would of gotten a better story, but I agree with the table consensus that it needs a lot more roleplaying scenes to give bonds between characters, so we care about them and their changes.

There is also the fact that the “change” your character experiences (and that is mentioned in the title) is so rapid-fire, it’s meaningless.

is that the Will Hindmarch game? Makes me even more afraid for the outcome Project: Dark (you know, other than the fact that he’s already 6 months late).

It is Will Hindmarch. I hope it’s not a reflection on what to expect out of Project: Dark. P:D seems like a game that he’s putting a lot more effort into, whereas Odyssey actually began life as a Game Chef entry and I don’t know how much he really did with it before releasing it. There are disclaimers in the manual about some of the included rules options not having been tested…

Damn, Project: Dark’s not out yet? Didn’t that Kickstart a year ago?

nope Steve Mains, he updates once every few months, mostly with artwork though. Haven’t seen any progress on the game since an initial beta that didn’t give me enough to go on. I’ve been quite peeved about the whole thing, but other backers don’t seem so fussed about the delay, which I can’t really understand. In the mean time John Harper’s Blades in the Dark has come and gone, which does somewhat the same, but mechanically more to my liking. I might just sell my Project: Dark pledge, if I ever do receive it.

That’s a bummer. From what I saw of it, P:D looked cool. I think the price point threw me off. Luckily, I’ll have John Harper’s (already ridiculously successful) game to keep me company.
