  1. I’ve LARPed within my own troupe, playing Vampire: the Masquerade MET (Mind’s Eye Theater) as well as my favorite, Werewolf: the Apocalypse (Laws of the Wild MET).

By Night Studios recently received a well-funded Kickstarter campaign to re-vamp (no pun intended) the Vampire line and are looking to redo the other lines that White Wolf was known for. I had loads of fun and I met quite a few people that I still game with still.

I recommend to anyone who is interested in LARP to find one that fits what they like and jump in feet first. You’re not going to be any more weird for LARPing than you are for owning insanely shaped dice.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that in the first place =)

  3. Jason Helms Well, my hesitance about LARP-ing is not actually a judgmental thing, but rather a gamer thing. LARPing has never appealed in the past because I’m a big proponent of the fact that RPGs are games, and that games should have rules and mechanics, and that there is a certain separation from fantasy and reality enforced by those rules.

I have actually played Shelter in Place, and it was a lot of fun but I wonder if it was easier to get into because you play modern day characters.

The LARP in this article is something I would try because it is a one-shot, it is highly structured, and it seems aimed at people like me who do not otherwise LARP. LARP tourism, if you will.
