Jason Cordova In one of the podcasts you mention how you like to use World of Dungeons to test out new modules before bringing them to the table. What does that actually look like? Do you do a solo-play session?

No, I run it like a normal session. The reason I like to use WoD to try things out is I can get a sense for what was interesting to the players, thematically-speaking, without having to worry much about custom moves, monster stats, things like that.

So, for example, when I ran Hester’s Mill in WoD, I discovered, quite by chance, that one of the things the players really enjoyed was a moment when an enchantment caused the party to consider murdering their faithful, but hapless, torchbearer (poor Pate!). It was a really fun, tense scene. Later, I extrapolated on that in DW with an appropriate custom move.

Well that makes more sense than the picture I had in my head. Although the mental image of you soloing World of Dungeons was fantastic.

Will Patterson I’m picturing Jason acting out all the characters solo… That could be quite entertaining. 😉

Christopher Meid That is the exact picture I had as well. In my head this exchange definitely happened:
Jason: I hack & slash the goblin.
Jason: Cool, what do you do?

Jason: describe what that looks like on screen.

Jason: Try harder.
Jason: Um, I take a running jump onto the table, sliding down it screaming bloody murder and slashing at the kobolds with my sword as I slide by. Damn, a 7.
Jason: What’s your tough choice?
Jason: gollum. gollum. gollum
