My lightweight spacefaring RPG, Offworlders, is available now as a PWYW PDF. It’s based on World of Dungeons but expanded a bit, and in space.

  1. Jason Tocci appreciate it Jason! I actually decided to mark it down to just free, after getting some advice from Keven Crawford (author of Stars Without Number) on reddit.

There will be a print version very soon, and if you like the game and want a physical copy, I promise we will take your money for that.

  3. Jason Cordova Offworlders is about as open-ended as WoDu. It’s designed with the goal of being a pretty generic baseline sci fi framework, the way WoDu is for D&D fantasy. So you could definitely run a horror scenario in it, in the same way you could run a horror fantasy scenario in WoDu. Which means it would largely come down to description, tone, and when you as a GM choose to bring different mechanics to bear.

I could see running Dead Planet in it for sure, I’d just be aware that the PC’s might have a few extra tricks up their sleeves in the form of abilities than their counterparts from Mothership. Mothership PC’s seem very bare-bones and built around wanting to avoid having to roll dice, as far as I can tell from a reading.

Also Offworlders has no explicit insanity/stress/horror mechanics, but there is a lot of room for defining that if someone gets to 0 health and rolls a 7-9.
