Hello all,

I’m an avid actual play listener and have played PBTA games here and there (Epyllion, Dungeon World, Blades in the Dark, The Sprawl…).

I’m looking to run World of Dungeons specifically, and I was wondering what basic/special moves (if any) you experienced GMs have pulled from Dungeon World which you felt enhanced the experience.

Any additional thoughts or advice for an experienced GM who is new to running WoDu and PBTA games is appreciated.

  1. Pulled from DW? Nothing really stands out.

    I have usually tried to incorporate flashback mechanics as best I can in some games, although it’s hard to port it to things like DW without some major abstractions (higher cost, lower quality, complications/bargains)

  3. Depends on your goals for your game. I would recommend a custom move for information gathering, something like Discern Realities from DW might be helpful. If you are playing with WoDu first level characters it’s good to know they can die quickly rules as written. You can help prevent this by having a custom move like Last Breath from DW in play. Jason Cordova is really the most experienced on WoDu actual play as far as running it goes, but I think he is away from technology for the next few days. I’ve played tons of DW and WoDu. If you have a more specific question, I’d be happy to try and help!
