Let’s talk about something positive! How about an OSR module that deals with refugees and the horrors of war? No? Well, this is a pretty great episode of FoaBD nonetheless.
In this one, Tom McGrenery and I are never getting off the boat in Kenneth Hite’s Qelong.
Thanks to Paul Edson for the excellent edit.
Enjoy!
I think the Formians are likely a reference to the VC/PAVN forces along the Ho Chi Minh Trail that were operating inside Cambodian borders. They are red and arranged in lines and come from the east?

Love this module. One of LotFPs best adventure. So much stuff in such a small book.

Ramanan S It’s true! I was really surprised how dense it was (but well-organized, which was a mercy).

Sorry or the newb question but what is OSR?

Simon Landreville Depending on who you ask, Old School Renaissance, Old School Rules, or Old School Revival (and possibly others?). Ramanan S can probably define it better than I, but essentially it’s a design movement in roleplaying games that embraces what was great about “old school” fantasy gaming. Some of the most popular OSR games are Lamentations of the Flame Princess, Dungeon Crawl Classics, Swords and Wizardry and Labyrinth Lord.

That’s a pretty good definition. I think renaissance is the best word that fits for what OSR stands for: like the original it’s about using old ideas to do new interesting things.

An example of people’s headspace with this stuff is Philitomomy’s Musings about OD&D. It’s a very simple game, but be manages to be very insightful about what makes it interesting. It was one of the first things I found when I stumbled on the OSR.save.vs.totalpartykill.ca – Philotomy’s Musings

Alright, thanks a lot. I have some reading to do too.

You should go read old Grognardia. It’s the best OSR blog.grognardia.blogspot.com.au – GROGNARDIA
