I’ve started playing in a D&D campaign in my Sunday mornings a bit. Playing a celestial warlock with some people that are on the Loading Ready Run discord server.
For the character I decided to go with a bit of an Aztec feel, partially because I’m trying to expand on the cultures I draw from for my characters, and so went looking for some Aztec poetic forms. The only one I could find was hymnals. On the one hand this is apropos because the character is a celestial warlock. But on the other, you don’t write hymns about your day to day life events.
That said, she happened upon the discovery of her patron, an opposite to the evil serpent deity of most yuan-ti, and is now on the run due to her family and people considering her a dangerous heretic. So maybe she is trying to make up hymns on the fly. She’s young and alone, who knows.
In any case, I’ll link the journal page, character sheet, and first set of hymns (while I looked at some of the way the poems structured themselves, the structure I went with is ultimately one I just made up, not authentic in any regard)
