  1. I didn’t think I would like this show – but it’s not what I expected, and To my surprise have very much enjoyed the first 3 episodes.

Looking forward to putting my ear to this one soon.

  3. Oooh. Have only played DCC once and this is the module I played. All my peasants died horrifically – it was great! Look forward to listening to you wax lyrical about it!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. 1) Playing DCC with funnel world is like drinking Earl Grey tea from a mug (it’s serviceable but less classy and you wouldn’t catch me doing it!) ๐Ÿ˜‡

    2) The trick to avoiding TPK is to flex the strength of the encounter. Once they survive they can use the top up method you mentioned. Another option is to give the party the initiative in the encounter. A monster being hit by 16 spatulas, rakes and scissors is pretty effective.

    3) Love the suggestions to create bonds with the 0-level characters. I’ve been thinking the same thing about bringing some meaning to the characters

    4) Jodie Marsh and Katie Price in the same reality TV show… Brave move by the producers.

    5) metal + synthwave = prog

  7. The weird thing was the player didn’t know who Jedward were yet somehow embodied their blithering good fortune anyway. Like, the party spent ages setting up a safe way to cross the drawbridge, but Jedward tried to just tightrope walk it after all that and nearly died. Everyone else said “why did you do that?” and he said “I dunno. I just… wait, do what?”

  9. Tom McGrenery awesome, that is too perfect, and very Jedward. Trying to recall if I’ve caught Sean Locke and Jedward on 8 out of 10 cats — I may have to do some YouTube digging tonight.

  11. Thanks for the kind words guys, we certainly enjoy your podcast as well!

As for characters surviving Sailors? Oh yes, it happens quite often. It just requires a certain level of paranoia combined with moments of total recklessness. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  13. I am just now getting around to this new podcast. So far it’s becoming part of my regular rotation.

You two seemed amazed at how deadly this module is, an I agree for the most part, but when you run it are you giving out XP as they deal with the encounters in the module. At least some of the living characters should hit 1st level by the middle. They only have to gain 10 XP (if memory of DCC rules is right) for that first level up, and this module is packed to the brim with encounters.

  15. It’s not the standard DCC funnel model (in which only the survivors of the first adventure are considered for 1st level) but yeah, that would help make the PCs’ lives easier.
