Hi everyone. Thanks for approving my request to join.
I’ve recently started an RPG-themed blog (stuff for Fate Accelerated mostly) and was looking for ways to increase my site’s exposure. Does anyone have any advice on how I could work to reach a larger audience? Cheers. 😀
Sadly, guerrilla press is this easiest for effect. I say sadly because it can be intrusive, which has it’s own issues. However, you should put the link into this post, and posts in your other relative circles. It is self promotion, but the point is to let everyone know you’re doing it. Of course never hammer it, but every few weeks hit with something relevant from the blog and keep it in people’s mind. Reach out to interesting(and interested) people to converse with you. This will add content to your blog, and will give a hook in to new people who follow whoever you talk to. So much of this is just spreading the word. Join conversations and communities(good choice of Gauntlet), share your viewpoint in a friendly way, subtlety let folks know you are writing and would like them to read, and choose you company wisely. If it goes well you will have a group who supports and encourages you, and will also bring their friends who will have similar sensibilities that push you further. Ideally, you have a group that may have different opinions but are interested in considering it from your baseline viewpoint. That will lead to people being comfortable engaging you, but being invested in the scope of topic you set.
Also, you should be prepared for truly horrible people saying absolutely vile things to you. There will be the worst dregs of mankind and the slime that crawls from pig vomit who will treat you most unfairly. I have seen very fine people wracked and hounded by the monsters who lurk in the depths of pettiness and bitterness. Still, a person with courage should always sing out their truth!
Good luck, my friend. I am certainly willing to hear what you have to say:)

Holy crap you JUST joined? Where you been Chris Stone-Bush !? I’ve been ranting about this place forever. Oh yah: Baby.
Yes run games. Great crew here for that. And I get to try and play. (Turns out normal hours in your Asia equals crazy early hours for me, and that means no conflict with family or work.)

Yeah, welcome to the Gauntlet! And I think we need more Fate (especially FAE) here.
Also, I get why you may not have wanted to include a link to your blog in your first post after just joining the community, but would you share it in the comments here? Thanks.

I’ve already seen some of the coolness, but yes please to what Dylan Ross said.

1.) write about topics you’re interested in
2.) write about topics other people want to know about
3.) tell other people publishing online when you have a really cool article / blog post
blog marketing’s what I do for a living and it isn’t terrifically complicated…. If you want search traffic exposure, I would look at addressing common questions/issues people have with FAE and other RPGs. If you address those questions better than other sites, you’ll rank in search and people will find you naturally. Step #3 will help speed you along, especially if you can get other bloggers/sites to link back to your articles.

Glad to have another Fate GM. Heck, another Fate player is a great thing.
Anyway. Run some games here, and build a fanbase
