A weird thing about Codex: our community has no reputation for playing (or even discussing) LARP, yet there is a surprisingly strong LARP presence in the zine.

Well, and we’re also a space where you can actually find a home for your LARP. There isn’t much in the way of publishing opportunities or outlets.

Larp, especially American Freeform larp, is my area of research/design specialty. Austin, TX, has a very large contingent of larpers, many of whom are on the cutting edge.

I’m larp curious. I did one very trad fantasy larp about fifteen years back and hated it but I’m super curious about the indie larp stuff happening currently.

Since I went to Knutepunkt / Solmukohta last year in Helsinki I’m totally into it and don’t see any boundaries between Indie design and freeform / Nordic larp anymore. I really like the Gauntlet being open to such things and I think in terms of people we have quite a good overlap already.

Btw, Jason Cordova the pervasive larp you reviewed for the 200words contest on robots teaching a child the world in a supermarket is just brilliant and something I will definitely play soon.

Philipp Neitzel haha, yeah, though we have run ViewScream before. The funny thing is way back before we had a podcast and stuff, when the Gauntlet was just our Houston f2f group, we played several larps. It was something we were on the verge of doing more and more of, but then I moved to NJ and put a big emphasis on online play.

Hey, Jason Cordova what order did the issues of Codex come out in? The OCD part of me wants to order them in my file system by issue number, because the meds only do so much.
