We Hunt the Keepers!
The Keepers. A secretive order of men & women dedicated to acquiring, studying, containing the Keys.
The Keys. Objects, places, people; each cursed or ancient or mad; each a reservoir of power and prophecy. The Dun Putrescence, the Tenebrous Chapel, the Hymnal of St. Evelyn the White, the Man Who is Naught but Mouths, the Child Who is Wreathed in Flame, and dozens, possibly hundreds more.
Some of the Keepers live in complete isolation, deep in the bowels of the earth, or in little huts on the highest, windswept peaks, though many live among us. Some go about in monastic robes, an outward expression of their dedication to the Keys above all other material concerns, though many look just like you and me. Some of the Keepers are men, some of the Keepers are women, some of them are young, some of them are old…but many are no longer recognizable as people at all, having been changed, shaped, twisted by the Keys.
Why do they study the Keys? What is their ultimate aim? A key, after all, is a thing meant to be turned. What will happen when the Keepers turn theirs?
We’re not going to wait around to discover the answer to those questions. We will hunt the Keepers. We will destroy them, one by one, until they are no more.
