We’re taking submissions for The Yellow Planet!

Codex – Yellow will have a Dungeon World feature called The Yellow Planet. It’s inspired by the Lamentations of the Flame Princess supplement Carcosa, as well as other weird science-fantasy fiction. Essentially, it’s a bizarre planet filled with Lovecraftian monstrosities, dinosaurs, alien technology, vile sorcery, and the remnants of previous civilizations.

This will be a crowd-sourced feature. Everything should be written for Dungeon World (or Dungeon Planet, I suppose). Submissions should be inspired by the Carcosa supplement, but not taken directly from it. Here is what we’re looking for…

Items

These can be magical or technological (or both).

Custom Moves

Particularly custom moves associated with locations, but any cool custom move or rules hack will be considered.

Monsters

The more alien, the more unknowable, the more weird, the better!

Places of Power

Take a look at Codex – Chrome for the format here (it’s available for free on the website).

Here are some more details…

Where to submit: gauntletpodcast@gmail.com

Deadline: 01.20.17

Things to avoid: we’re not interested in some of the more unsavory aspects of the Carcosa supplement. So, no sexual predation or child murder stuff, but almost anything else is ok. When in doubt, just ask.

If you haven’t taken a look at Carcosa, you can pick up the PDF here: http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/97686/Carcosa

  1. I’m excited about this Jason! I’ll see what I can come up with. I think this genre is a bit more in my wheel house and I’m excited to see what else is in here. That Carcosa series was really great and you did a great job running it. Feels like it’s something that gets you excited.

  3. The sympathy pig:

Having none of the traditional defenses this scaley hoofed herbivore relies on a powerful hormonal compound excreted from its flanks. Any predator that consumes one of the herd quickly finds that it has a deep sympathy and concern for the remaining pigs. It will spend the rest of its days protecting, tending and occasionally licking members of the herd. Never approach a sympathy pig in an aggressive manner or you may attract the attention of something far scarier.
