  1. Was awesome! Yeah Fall of Magic is something I’d love to play as well. I’ve been eying the roll20 package! Also Slade Stolar did you practice breathing with your submission or what lol didn’t even say your name!

Also, Prism does look awesome. I looked at the alpha ages ago! Super cool pick there. Want to get in on WWW next year too. Exciting times coming! Whitney Delaglio must be excited about that 🙂

  3. My year was pretty much defined by The Dark Eye, started working for the publisher after all and played and ran it a lot.

Still I think my favorite sessions that stand out over the year were in Monsterhearts. Maybe because they are something really different and all worked well, nothing mediocre creeping in, no one getting too used to it. Also super stoked on a new edition happening.

My favorite game I played with the Gauntlet this year clearly was Alienor.

  5. Wow, I’m totally having a proud daddy moment. I really thought Richard Rogers’s pick would have been Masks.

And yes, I’m totally taking advantage of the experience pool of The Gauntlet. You all play a great deal, and a variety of different games. If something will make a game GM or play better for The Gauntlet, the odds are in your favor that it will be a good change for anyone who plays it.1

We’ll find out how the changes pan out for Rich, and if all goes well, maybe we’ll see a “Gauntlet” Edition of 1%er in the future.

1- The exception being Bath Salts. When Jason Cordova said it “sounds like the worst game ever,” that was like a badge of honor.

  7. I don’t get to play much with the Gauntlet, but I did get to play in that game of Dialect with Jason and David – it really was a special game. I’m glad I’m not the only one who has looked at the Google doc of our session.

  9. I blame Richard Rogers for my Creepy Doll Studios addiction. 1â„…er was truly inspiring to me, so much that I’m hacking it. (I hate hacking games).

But I’m dying to play Dude, Run!

Robert Nolan is brilliant. Go buy all his shit, you won’t regret it!!!

  11. Such a great episode! Like a shopping list for 2017. 1%er is one I really ought to look into, Fall of Magic on my list for ages.

I was very tempted to jokingly send in my game then have a real answer (Found Footage, in this case).

  13. Thanks for including my voice even though I have a thick french accent. 😆

1%er is now on my watch list.

I have an interest in biker culture so I now give a f* about this game. 😉

Fall of Magic is so beautiful. Do you see a non-roleplayer having fun with this? (I’m thinking about my wife there hehe). She loves LOTR but does not care for rules.

  15. When Richard Rogers was doing his lead-up, I was like, “is he going to say 1%ers?” It’s an excellent game, I’d have played it with my home crew more, but they went super gonzo.

  17. Maxime Lacoste, yes I definitely think a non roleplayer can have fun with it… But not everyone. If you are someone who gets anxious being put on the spot to come up with something creative… It will be hard. You take turns adding to the story, there are prompts, I found them to be enough… But I could see some folks struggling with the amount given. Kids and parents usually have no problem with this. When all else fails throw a kid or two in the game… It might get a little sillier, but you won’t lack creativity.

  19. I’m loving Fraser Simons’ The Veil. I think it might be my game of the year. I’ve played a few games, one as the GM. They are dramatically different, yet still cyberpunk. In the one I GM, the reality is utterly pliable: Lain + Neverwhere + Inception + Mage: The Ascension. I think some of that is my doing, but the rest just sort of grew from the play at the table.

  21. Wow, thanks so much! That sounds really cool River Williamson ! I’d love to read a play report or something. I love Lain and Inception a lot. Lain has some really great questions it explores.

  23. Maxime Lacoste when you order direct from Heart of the Deernicorn, you can select a French language copy. I am not sure how it works on DriveThru, but they specify the different languages for the Digital Edition there too.

  25. Shane Liebling Palace Gates was part of a game anthology called Heads of State. It was Kickstarted and was in a Bundle of Holding, but I could not find it in the wild for sale. Mark Vallianatos wrote it, can try catching him on Twitter @markvalli to find out about getting a copy.

  27. Tommy Rayburn Sure… but you could “Hack” Fall of Magic to be a different theme… but the difference between “hack” and whole new game is really blurred here. You need a new map, new art, new words everywhere. Sure you could keep the base system. But it’s sort of the scale of d20 Modern is a hack of D&D…. sure… but not really.
