What’s going on with Pocket-Sized Play?
A few people have asked about the status of Pocket-Sized Play. The answer is that the show is presently on hiatus.
When Tim, Tor & Timothy approached me with their idea for PSP, none of us really knew what was involved in putting together an AP podcast, but I thought they had a good pitch, and I wanted to see where it would go. As it turns out, editing a 2 hour session down to the most interesting 20-30 minutes is very difficult and time-consuming. Combine that with the scheduling difficulties associated with participants in wildly different timezones, as well as some unclear lines of creative authority between the participants, and the project just kind of fell apart.
And yet I do not consider PSP a failure. We learned a lot of valuable lessons from it, and we have embedded those lessons deep into the DNA of Comic Strip AP. The biggest lesson we learned is that the Gauntlet, so fundamentally driven by notions of community and participation, is not a good fit for a project that kind of exists in its own little world, as PSP did.
So the show is on hiatus while we figure out where it goes from here. Timothy Bennett has expressed an interest in re-tooling and re-launching the show at some point in the future, and we may have more to share on that soon.
Thanks!
Not a failure AT ALL. I cant even bring myself to clip or timestamp a youtube video.

I love pocket sized play. Thanks for everything you did.

I thought that it was a compelling model and I want to see where story can develop from their mechanism.
I think that it might be better to do a larger section of sessions and then edit it down and roll it out over time. Not even sure if that would make things better or harder.
However I really enjoyed it.

Thank you for the update. I absolutely loved the show, and can say that it inspired me quite a bit. Well done on the parts of all involved!

Really appreciate the comments. It’s definitely encouraging. Recording of new episodes have already started, so hopefully the wait won’t be too much longer. Tim B and Tor Droplets are, and continue to be, some of my favorite people to game with and it feels daunting to press on without them. Those two are so talented and for me it was a real privilege to learn from them. But its also an opportunity to work and create with some other awesome people as well. My hope is that what follows is worthy of all the effort and work and creativity that Tim B and Tor Droplets poured into the foundation of this project. Thanks for everyone’s patience during the transition.

Short series, long breaks. It’s like a BBC show.
