I have a dilemma.

I have a dilemma.

I have a dilemma. I have an idea for a magic class, but the best name I could think of for it is The Mage. But there are already some Mage classes for Dungeon World and just tacking something onto it like The _______ Mage seems excessive. I also thought of the Archmage, since in my worlds there are usually a lot of NPCs that know magic, just not as much as the hero is capable of. What do you guys think? Do you have any ideas for names?

  3. I’m curious. What makes your class different? It might help us come up with a great name if we have a sense of the spell-caster’s abilities or style.

One idea, that might be fun, is to call a magic class “Adept” and then have a number of compendium classes (depending on the way it is played) that reflect different paths to mastery.

  5. It will be a magic user that uses Mana as a resource. I haven’t gotten much further into the development of it yet. I’m trying to go with a feel like the mages in the Warcraft universe.

  7. I like Manawright (hat tip to Logan Howard  or Mana Bender.

I kind of like the idea of naming them in such a way to to give clue about the world in which they exist.

Things like Sourcer or Conduit come to mind.

  9. The Adept is pretty good, since I have heard that used as a term for a mage or spellcaster before. Are there currently any Adept playbooks? I hate stepping on toes when it comes to naming them.

  11. Rolling with Archmage

    Magi Elite

    Magi Supreme

I also like Mana Bender It says allot.

I feel the same way about Channeler as you do about Mage. Its been used too many times. Though it is a good name.

    Essencer

    Sparkbinder

    Marroweaver

    Exactor

Wielder (always with a capital “W”)
