I am new to Google+, so be kind please. I am looking to running Dungeon World for my gaming group later this year. I bought the pdf from drivethrurpg and have read it through a couple of times. I would like to be able to access the rule book from my Kindle app (I had it on my previous smartphone and can’t recall how to bring it back) and am wondering if there are any recommendations as to additional supplements for starting out a group. D&D is growing tiresome, and GURPS is min/max Hell.

  1. My min/max players (who love to RP, but also love that “crunch”) aren’t big into DW. I mean, we did a campaign last year, but they’d prefer Savage Worlds or something (I won’t run “crunchy” systems like GURPs).

I’d say do a few things in prep though:

    1. Listen to the short-form Actual Play at the end of the Discern Realities podcast.

    2. Check out Dragonslaying on a Timetable: How To Run A Tight 4-Hour Dungeon World One-Shot (https://plus.google.com/113677679278469240206/posts/C57G9mh7s5s)

    3. Check out Things to do in the first session of your Dungeon World game (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1f2MR7NyN41T9QxsYXUhMJCUvXWWX0VYxp1tAtYiOxWs/edit)

  3. Warren Denning this is my weekly rpg group. I also do miniature wargames with other friends (when I am able to) and enjoy aspects of both. Unfortunately the rpg group plays more like a skirmish game anymore. Characters are optimized to the point of ridiculousness for some of the group. It is like an attempt at role playing in with wargame tournament-style characters.

I already do wargames, I would like to see the guys make an attempt at something wildly different, and Dungeon World seems to fit my idea.

  5. Tomer Gurantz I am working my way through Discern Realities episodes and have listened to various Dungeon World (and Tremulus) actual play rpg sessions. Both I find informative and entertaining.

  7. Ryan FlessingĀ Ah I can see how that would be taxing. Other alternatives would be The Black Hack and B/X D&D. Also enforcing the 3d6 straight down the line rule, so players have deal with sometimes suboptimal scores.
