I enjoyed that exploration of the companion move! Would love to hear you go more in depth on some other moves : how to use them well, how to expand on them

Oh, oh! My little hero actually got himself a symbiotic saproling sometime after fighting the 2 hp golem. Not as dark as it only feeds on his overflowing courage, but it had sass.

I suggest if you’re looking for more interesting takes on the animal companion, Perilous Wilds does a fantastic job of doing this already. Check it out!

David LaFreniere Well, I guess we can stop having these conversations since it’s all been sorted already.

It was just a suggestion to check out another take, not meant to shutdown conversation or other ideas.

Timothy Bennett Yeah, I know. I’ve been moving the last two days, so I’m more cranky than usual, haha.

Jason Cordova Understandable. Few things worse than moving. I also “posted on the road” and “distracted” so I could have used better wording when sharing.

Thanks Jason Cordova for sharing your Death Frost Doom notes and posting the AP on youtube; so helpful seeing how to prep and run DW.

My entry for the Codex Keeper contest is a compendium class called the Parasitist. It’s a bit long for a hangouts post, so here is a link to my google drive. It’s my first attempt at a compendium class, so I’m certainly open to improvements.

New Yorkthe land beyond!Contest entry: the sanguine slurper – this fist size stone appears completely inert until it comes in contact with blood. As it absorbs seemingly endless amounts of blood it begins to writhe and moan. Multiple loudly slurping oraphises open along its body. Several eyes open and seem to roll with glee. When every speck of blood is gone the stone guickly settles down and becomes inert again.

Aww, wow, just listened to the ep where y’all talk about the codex keeper contest. Listening to your various interpretations of that blood image really tickled me. I’ll abstain from writing an entry for it, but I’m super tempted.

Michael Mendoza No, because this time around, some people are choosing to submit them privately via email. W may do something once the contest is over.

My son originally had a fox named Sense-of-Smell. At some point it apparently morphed into a “woof.” Always a woof.

In my DW Play-by-post game, I have a Ranger character that has a viper for an animal companion, and having a companion like that really changes the dynamic vs the common dog/wolf trope. It’s really interesting and refreshing.
As a GM, I really try to keep the AC’s instinct/weakness in mind, and use that not just for flavor and color, but also for soft and hard moves. For instance, the char’s viper has an instinct/weakness “to follow its stomach”. So, when the Ranger rolled a 6- during a fight with some ghoul rats, guess who crawled out of the backpack and helped itself to some ghoulish rat munchies?
