We had a fun meeting of Gauntlet NJ’s Friday Night Drive-in. We ran a quick playtest of Patrick O’Leary’s game Demonize, and then played Jason Morningstar’s new(ish) game The Skeletons. I’ll have more to say about The Skeletons on an upcoming episode of the podcast, but for now, I’ll say it was a very interesting experience, unlike any game I’ve ever played before.

Really interested to hear about The Skeletons. That game has been on my wishlist ever since I heard Jason Morningstar mention it on one of the Gauntlet podcasts some time ago. Need something to push me over the edge toward buying it.

(Also, Jason Cordova, you’ve really stepped up your filter game lately.)

Prisma filtered images without the little Prisma logo in the corner? How’d you do that?

I’ve watched a couple APs of it and am a fan.

Thanks for helping playtest! If anyone is interested they can learn more about Demonize here: http://proleary.com/other-projects/demonize/
As for The Skeletons, I have mixed opinions. It was a lot of fun but I think there was much more potential that some rule tweaks/clarifications could have unlocked. I’m curious to see what other people experienced.

So cool! Can’t wait to hear about your experience with The Skeletons. I’ve run it twice. I like manicured soundtracks. Here was my first game: http://www.supernovembergames.com/tomes-of-tomes/2016/6/3/astg-the-skeletons.
That said, I also like Lego… and wanted to play it in space. It was a blast. This was the result: http://www.supernovembergames.com/tomes-of-tomes/2016/7/12/the-skeletons-in-space-a-very-short-playtest

I would be curious to hear you talk about how much or how little you ended up playing the beat by beat of the encounters in The Skeletons versus deciding in broad sweeps what happened and why questions got answered — i.e. where was it on the Quiet Year < --> Fiasco spectrum?

Jim Morrison We landed on the Quiet Year end of the spectrum, though the text was pretty ambiguous about that part.
