I sent this out as an email to members of the Gauntlet Hangouts Meetup, but I am posting the text here, too, for maximum coverage.
We have lately had a number of instances where people RSVP ‘Yes’ for an event, and then don’t show up for the game, or they cancel at the last minute. While we understand life happens from time to time, it starts to be a problem when it’s a routine occurrence. The game organizers spend a lot of time getting these sessions ready, and it’s really unfair to them when they have players drop at the last minute or simply don’t show. It’s also not fair to people who might have played in the game if a spot had been available.
From now on, if you RSVP ‘Yes’ for an event, but you have a history of not showing-up, or if you tend to cancel at the last minute (in this case, ‘last-minute’ will be defined as a few hours before the session starts), then the game host has the discretion to put you on the Waitlist in favor of someone else.
Also, consider adjusting your notification settings. If you click on ‘My Profile’ in the upper right-hand corner, you will see an option for ‘Email & Notifications.’ That way, if something changes in terms of RSVPs (for example, if you move off the Waitlist), you’ll know.
We’re delighted by how Gauntlet Hangouts has grown, and we love that people want to play games within the community. Please just do your part by being mindful and realistic about the games you are RSVPing for.
Thanks for the post! I definitely fall into the “might have played if there had been a spot” camp!

I’ve been falling into the flake camp lately, for which I’d like to apologize. I’ll be pulling out of Gauntlet games till my schedule becomes a little more regular again. Sorry again for being that player.

Alex Chalk For what it’s worth, you’re not one of the people I had in mind. These are folks who have never showed up to anything, but they keep RSVP’ing.
