Do you need a group to playtest your game?

We maintain a really active and robust gaming calendar on Gauntlet Hangouts. Starting in May, I’m going to open-up some Thursday slots for playtesting games. We’ll play and record the game over Hangouts, and then give the author some written feedback. My hope is to put our organizing muscle to use for up-and-coming designers who are having trouble rounding-up playtest groups, or for more established designers who want the sort of honest, incisive feedback we employ on our podcasts.

I’m going to start with May 5th, May 12th, and May 26th. If I’m happy with how it’s going, I’ll make it a regular, ongoing feature of the Gauntlet Hangouts calendar.

If you have a game you’d like us to try, please get in touch with me on Hangouts chat. Also, please make sure:

1. Your game can be played reasonably well over Hangouts/Roll20; and

2. You are able to provide us a copy of the rules at least one week before we are scheduled to play your game.

Thanks!

  1. Would definitely be interested in this. I’ll have a look through my list of current projects and see which ones would be suitable for online play.

  3. How exciting, would love to participate! I’m designing a game called Dialect with Hakan Seyalioglu. It’s a world-building game that follows the story of a community in isolation as seen through their language. More details here: http://www.thornygames.com/dialect-rpg . We’ve run very successful playtests at Metatopia and Dreamation as well as with many local groups throughout the SF area.

  5. Another member of this community pointed me over here. I have a PbtA game I’m working on about hunting monsters in 17th century Europe that I would love to get play test feedback on.
