On this week’s episode of The Gauntlet Podcast, Mark Diaz Truman joins us to talk about Cartel. This was a really fun episode to record; we had an instant chemistry with Mark, and it comes through nicely. The conversation is funny and well-rounded. I hope you enjoy it!

I don’t usually listen to podcasts at work but I’m going to break my rule today because Mark, The Watch and Dreamation! I want to hear about it all RIGHT NOW! 🙂

Andrew Medeiros Prepare to blush!
I really enjoy Mark Diaz Truman whenever he appears in my feed. The man knows how to express himself clearly and challenge assumptions without too much hackle-raising. Really great show.

You know, I have zero interest in that teenage werewolf TV show, so a game about it doesn’t really interest me, but I’ve got to say, the PbtA game that Jason is developing is starting to sound really intriguing! Nice playbooks, ingenious moves… Sounds like it would be another successful Magpie games kickstarter 😀
Good show, as always!
On the serious side, very interesting discussion on the narco culture issues in Cartel. The narco situation where I live isn’t as bad as in Mexico, but there’s that lifestyle glorification and stick-it-to-the-government cultural attitude going on here as well, so I can at least partially relate.

I am as sad that I missed Jason Cordova at Dreamation as I was that I only nodded at Mark Diaz Truman from across the room at Metatopia.

Judd Karlman I almost came to find you! I was scanning the boards for people whose names I recognized, haha.

[tries not to blush at all the mentions but fails]
This is a very touching episode for me; I’m full of all kinds of emotions right now. I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed my time with Jason at Dreamation, he’s a great person to be around and I loved our experiences together. Now I’m going to go hide under a pillow.

I’m really happy with this episode, this one really made me think about what a game was made for, and the little conversation bit from the con, where someone came up and was talking about how the situation affected their life really makes me want to experience this game. Thanks for coming on the show Mark!

I listened to this episode again because of the Cartel kickstarter. Probably one of your best shows/segments.
