My favorite part of the new Dungeon World show is the little AP segment at the end of each episode. It’s fun to record and fun to listen to. I would love to expand on the idea a bit…

It is surprisingly fun. I enjoy it in the small slices, but it must be kind of hard to always fit a meaningful section of story into such a small space. It serves the really functional purpose of a play example and, while I wasn’t sure how it was going to work when you foreshadowed it, I have been very pleasantly surprised at how well it fits into the overall schematic of the cast.

Same here! I like it simply because it challenges me to actually like AP, which is not usually the case.

Sounds like you need a grease mage

It is a perfect fit into the show. It gives bite-sized examples of AP while also providing alot of great material. I certainly enjoy the formula you have put together for the podcast.

Daniel Fowler This is a family show. No lubricant-based magic-users need apply.
Sean Smith Ray Otus Yeah, we asked ourselves: “What do we have to offer the listener?” The answer was our volume of play experience, but it took us a few weeks to come up wth an interesting format. In fact, we recorded two episodes prior to the ones you guys have, but decided against releasing them because they weren’t quite right. The flash of insight that pulled it all together, for me at least, was to make it an audio version of Dragon Magazine.

There is a very small hitch. If you listen to the AP sections back-to-back it’s pretty clear what you and the other host forgot between the weeks. Nothing that wouldn’t be forgotten between normal RP sessions, but the effect is compounded by the short sessions.
Even with that hiccup, it’s my favorite part of the podcast. It’s like having podcast dessert. It ties the more system-heavy stuff together nicely.

River Williamson I haven’t listened to them back-to-back, so you may be right, but can you give an example?

Funny story. I can’t recall anymore (the irony!).
I’ll give them a listen again. It could be that I’m not remembering this accurately.

River Williamson You may very well be right, especially between episodes 2 and 3, which had a month between the recordings. We should probably listen to the previous session immediately before recording the new one.
One weird thing someone might have noticed is Urbina stated she had been casing the place for a couple of days, looking for a way to get in, but took the opportunity to follow Ramshackle in after he knocked out the guard. You might ask “Why didn’t she just knock out the guard herself and sneak in?” In fact, there is an as-yet unrevealed reason why she couldn’t do that (in addition to the fact that the night of their special ceremony was always going to be the best time to sneak in).

Urbina is a gem. She has scoundrel and unreliable narrator written all over her. She may have fabricated her story wholecloth, she might have been telling some of the truth, or she may have rehearsed a few cover stories.

I sat down and listened to only the “What is about to happen?” segments. They flow like water.
The two things I thought were discontinuities or hiccups weren’t. Crow didn’t know about the beggar (in character) and acted accordingly. I’d also thought the defy danger for the ambush was rolled at the end of session 2, but it was not. You specifically left it open.
I’m terribly sorry. It was all in my head.

River Williamson No worries at all.
